The Sporades Islands Preservation Foundation (SIPF) invites you to these idyllic Aegean islands for a learning vacation with hands-on experience to preserve and reconnect our community and yours with sustainable life practices. With the sparkling Aegean Sea and beautiful Sporades Islands as a major backdrop, you can celebrate the traditional Greek life with feasts, tours and cultural events while working on local sustainability projects. Our team of experienced educators, craftsmen and artisans will work to meet the needs of your group, organisation or institution. You are sure to return home relaxed, renewed and ready to develop sustainable life practices in your community.
The Mission for the SIPF is to provide a living, active, learning laboratory both within and outside the Sporades Islands Center for Sustainable Life (SICSL) for all ages. This will be achieved through continuing education, cooperative learning and practices, experiential and practical activities, and ongoing projects. Both local expertise and outside professional and academic assistance will be utilized.
Through education and cooperative learning, the Sporades Islands Preservation Foundation fosters the rediscovery of sustainable practices, traditional and progressive.
The Center (located in the town of Glossa, Skopelos Island) promotes the vitality of the Sporades islands’ fragile environment, agriculture, nautical pursuits, and traditional interdependent occupations and skills.
Our Goals are to:
The Sporades Islands Preservation Foundation (SIPF) is a non-profit organization which operates locally and internationally from its base in Glossa Skopelos, Greece. Directed by the visionary and founder, Tom Amygdalitsis, our specialists of trades, crafts and academia are working passionately for the protection of the environment and for sustainable development of local traditions and progressive practices.
As a non-governmental organisation (NGO), The SIPF relies on the hard work and support of our volunteers. Through their efforts and contributions we have been able to begin to make our goals and vision a reality on Skopelos Island.
Professor Apostolos D. Panagiotou has very kindly donated his book "Production and Use of Energy" to the SIPF and users of this site are welcome to download and enjoy it for free. It contains valuable information about renewable energy sources and includes many experiments you can try at home!
